The drawing symbol always displays regardless of its relationship to the viewing/cutting plane. When the drawing symbol is displayed, the model representation is suppressed and not drawn. View independent drawing symbols are very beneficial when the drawing symbol contains plan, front, and/or side representations within one symbol.

However if the drawing symbol only contains one representation such as a plan, and users want to display an elevation, then the drawing symbol option should not be enabled. If the drawing symbol option is enabled in this case, the elevation drawing symbol is drawn as a single line and the model representation is hidden.
